Why Your Reels Get 200 Views (and How to Fix It)
The reasons Instagram reels get stuck at a few hundred views, and practical fixes: hooks, length, audio, posting time, captions and early engagement.

If your reels keep stalling at 150–300 views, Instagram is showing them to a small test group and deciding not to push further. Here's what usually causes that.
The first second is weak
Most people decide in about a second whether to keep watching. Open with the most interesting frame, not a logo or a slow intro. Text on screen helps: "Mistake that cost me ₹40,000…".
It's too long
Under 15 seconds is the sweet spot for most accounts. If the reel needs to be longer, make every second earn its place.
No reason to watch till the end
Reels with high completion and replays get pushed. Put the payoff at the end, or loop the last frame back into the first.
Wrong audio timing
Trending audio helps when you catch it early. Original audio works if you talk directly to camera.
Caption and hashtags are an afterthought
A caption that adds context or asks a question pulls comments. Use 3–5 specific hashtags, not 30 generic ones.
Posting when your audience is asleep
Check Insights → Most active times. For most Indian audiences, 7–10 pm works well.
The first hour is dead
Instagram weighs early engagement heavily. Some creators get their first wave from friends and close followers. Others give the reel an initial push with reel views and a few likes so it doesn't look ignored when the test audience sees it. Either way, the goal is to not look dead at minute 20.
You changed niche
If your last 10 reels were cricket and this one is skincare, Instagram doesn't know who to show it to. Stay consistent.
